The state health authority needs more specific data on private hospitals bed capacities and those institutions that have obtained land at reduced prices from the state government. Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state government and the agitating doctors of private hospitals, the health department has begun collecting data on private hospitals that have received land for free, in exchange for token money, or at reduced rates from the state government.

The proposed Right to Health Act (RTH) Act will cover hospitals built on government land or at subsidized rates (as per the conditions of their land allotment contract) or hospitals operated by trusts (those sponsored by the government in the form of land and construction).

Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur, director (public health), health department, claimed that land is allotted to hospitals by the Jaipur Development Authority and municipal councils in other cities. Not much data on such hospitals that have obtained government-subsidized property is available. They will collect the necessary data and the agreement made during land allotment now that the MoU has been signed.

The health department will also write to the urban development and housing departments to offer information on all such private hospitals.

Dr. Tarun Ojha, president of the Indian Medical Association (Jaipur chapter), requested that the government maintain transparency while keeping doctors′ interests in mind.

Further, Dr. Anurag Sharma, secretary Indian Medical Association (Jaipur branch), said, "The government should also implement other points in the MoU, including that police cases registered shall be withdrawn."
